Job Purpose: The overall purpose of this role is to provide leadership and management oversight for the engineering department in order to ensure the hospital’s plant and facilities are in good working condition in line with established quality and safety standards.
For Appointment to this position, the applicant must have:
Qualifications and Professional Requirements:
a) Degree or Higher Diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from a recognized institution;
b) Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a hospital setup, 3 years of which must be at a supervisory level.
c) Experience with internal audits, Safecare Inspections, or ISO inspections or JCIA inspections will be an added advantage.
d) Registration with Association of Medical Engineers of Kenya.
e) Proficiency in computer applications.
f) Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution Kenya, 2010.

i. Good technology skills and a familiarity with industry-specific software and modeling programmes.
ii. Excellent numeracy skills.
iii. Ability to lead, influence and drive change initiatives in support of business strategies within the department/unit.
iv. Strong leadership and skills to foster teamwork; develop and motivate staff, resolve conflicts as well as ability to provide direction, guidance, momentum, and vision in order to achieve organizational objectives
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Conduct routine maintenance in line with manufacturers’ recommendations and prepare the related compliance and calibration reports.
ii. Diagnose problems when machinery breaks down, decide the best repair methods, and ensure repairs are carried out in a timely manner
iii. Service and replace faulty biomedical equipment
iv. Ensure timely response to the job requests from the various departments
v. Recommend outsourcing of works that are beyond the scope of internal resources and supervise outsourced contractors on site
vi. Maintain up to date records of maintenance costs, incidents and procedures
vii. Ensure adherence to the PPM schedule and health and safety standards
viii. Prepare Biomedical Reports monthly
ix. Train other staff on how to maintain and use machinery.
