Job Purpose: The Anesthetist Nurse provides pain medication (anesthesia) care for patients before, during, and after surgery.

For Appointment to this position, the applicant must have:

Qualifications and Professional Requirements:

i) Higher Diploma in Anesthesiology Nursing from a recognized institution
j) Bachelor of Science in Nursing will be an added advantage
k) Must have a Certificate in a course in life-saving
l) Demonstrable Knowledge of professional standards
m) Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya
n) Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya
o) Proficiency in computer applications.
p) Fulfilled requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

Duties and Responsibilities

x. Provide consultations for patients and their families to make sure they understand medical condition and options for treatment.
xi. Preparing patients for anesthesia, including physical assessment and preoperative teaching
xii. Participates in administering anesthesia to a patient and maintaining anesthesia during an operation
xiii. Partcipated in development and implementation of operating policy and procedure of the hospital.
xiv. Manages patient recovery from anesthesia
xv. Coordinates services with other patient care units as required.
xvi. Maintains communication with allied services and maintains community liaison as appropriate.
xvii. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
xviii. Providing direct patient care and consultation.
xix. Ensures adherence established clinical policies, protocols, regulations, and standards.
xx. Coordinates services with other patient care units, as appropriate, and provides direct patient evaluation and consultation.
