Job Purpose: The Pediatric Surgeon at the Hospital specializes in performing surgical procedures on pediatric patients. This role exists to provide expert surgical care, improve the health and well-being of children, and ensure the highest standards of pediatric surgery.

For Appointment to this position, the applicant must have:

Qualifications and Professional Requirements:

a) Master’s degree (MMed) in Pediatric Surgery or equivalent specialization from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
b) Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from an institution recognized by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
c) Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
d) Recognition as a specialist or sub-specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
e) Valid Practice License from the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council .
f) Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
g)At least one year of working experience as a Pediatric Surgeon in a reputable hospital.

ii. Compassionate care for pediatric patients, recognizing their vulnerability and providing emotional support.
iii. Collaboration and communication within medical teams to coordinate surgical interventions effectively.
iv. Dedication to continuous learning and research to offer the latest and most advanced pediatric surgical techniques.
v. Empathy and compassion for pediatric patients, focusing on their comfort and well-being before, during, and after surgery.

Duties and Responsibilities

i. Evaluate and diagnose surgical conditions in pediatric patients.
ii. Perform surgical procedures on infants, children, and adolescents.
iii. Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients and their families.
iv. Collaborate with pediatricians and other specialists for comprehensive care.
v. Stay updated on the latest advancements in pediatric surgery.
vi. Participate in teaching and mentoring junior medical staff.
vii. Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
