Job Purpose: Consultant Family physicians are the first point of contact for many patients, providing both preventive care and treatment for a wide range of illnesses
For Appointment to this position, the applicant must have:
Qualifications and Professional Requirements:
a) A Master of Medicine degree and specialization in Family Medicine from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
c) Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council. d) At least one year of working experience as a Pediatrics and Child Health Specialist in reputable hospital
e) Retention in the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council register. Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
f) Recognition as a sub-specialist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
g) Valid Practice License from the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
h) Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
i) Proficiency in computer applications.
j) Fulfilled the requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
Competencies and Skills
i. Expertise in diagnosing and managing infectious diseases, including a deep understanding of various pathogens and treatment strategies.
ii. Strong knowledge of infection control measures to prevent the spread of infections within the hospital setting.
iii. Ability to collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to coordinate efforts for infectious disease management.
iv. Proficiency in conducting research and analyzing data to contribute to advancements in infectious disease treatment.
v. Ability to educate and train others in infection prevention and management.
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Diagnose and treat patients with infectious diseases.
ii. Develop and implement infection control measures.
iii. Collaborate with infection control teams and other specialists.
iv. Conduct research and stay updated on infectious disease trends.
v. Provide education and training on infection prevention and management.
vi. Participate in outbreak investigations and response.
vii. Mentor junior medical staff and contribute to clinical rounds.
viii. Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
