Consultant Anatomic Pathologist

Job Purpose: The Anatomic Pathologist performs autopsy, histopathology, cytopathology, molecular tests and training and research in the field of pathology.

For Appointment to this position, the applicant must have:

Qualifications and Professional Requirements:

i. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
ii. Master of Medicine in Anatomic Pathology or Human Pathology from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
iii. Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council KMPDC).
iv. Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC.
v. Valid Practice License from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
vi. Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
vii. Proficiency in computer applications.
viii. At least 1 year experience as an Anatomic Pathologist in a busy hospital.

Duties and Responsibilities

i. Perform and report fine needle aspirates
ii. Examination & Dissection of Surgical Sections
iii. Reporting Histopathology & Cytopathology
iv. Verification of critical, unusual, and abnormal test results before release.
v. Approval of SOPs for use and ensuring compliance with respect to regulatory requirements.
vi. Ensuring conformance to Histopathology Quality Indicators.
vii. Reporting Immunohistochemistry and molecular tests.
