Job Purpose: The Business Development, Marketing & Public Relations Officer drives the hospital’s growth, reputation, and community engagement through strategic marketing, effective communication, and cultivating key partnerships.

For Appointment to this position, the applicant must have:

Qualifications and Professional Requirements:

a) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Journalism, Mass Communication, International Relations, Communication Studies, Public Relations, Graphic Design, or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution;
OR

b) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Commerce (Marketing Option), Business Administration (Marketing Option), Education, Arts AND Diploma/Post Graduate Diploma in any of the following: Mass Communications, Communication Studies, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, Graphic Design, or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
c) Membership to Professional body such as Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK), Media Council of Kenya (MCK) or Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ); Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) where applicable;
d) At least eight (8) years relevant work experience
e) Demonstrated a high degree of professional Key Competencies and administrative capability.
f) Fulfilled requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
g) Supervisory course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution;
h) Proficiency in computer applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

i. Coordinate development of the public relations and communication strategy for KTRH;
ii. Manage development of the hospital’s Corporate brand identity;
iii. Coordinate development and management of a media strategy (offline and online) for the to enhance communication and awareness on the hospital’s activities and programs;
iv. Guide development of a comprehensive stakeholder relations strategy for employees,
v. relevant government departments, partner organizations and the general public;
vi. Steer development of policies on public relations/communication;
vii. Guides roll out of programs for building and promoting internal and external image;
viii. Maintain strategic linkages with media to highlight the hospital’s roles in the health sector;
ix. Monitor print, electronic, and social media news pertaining to the organization, identifying areas that need the Board’s attention and alerting the Management for appropriate action;
x. Review developed and submitted regular departmental reports and make recommendations;
xi. Review prepared board papers and presenting them to the relevant board committee.
