Biomedical Engineering Technologist

Job Purpose: The Bio-medical Engineering Technologist is responsible for maintaining and repairing medical equipment and devices. This role exists to ensure the reliability and safety of medical technology used in patient care.

For Appointment to this position, the applicant must have:

Qualifications and Professional Requirements:

i. Diploma in Biomedical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
ii. Registration with Association of Medical Engineers of Kenya.
iii. Proficiency in computer applications.
iv. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution Kenya, 2010.

Competencies and Skills

i. Biomedical equipment maintenance skills to ensure the functionality of medical devices.
ii. Technical troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and address equipment issues.
iii. Ability to collaboration with healthcare teams to provide technical support.
iv. Ability to educate and educate hospital staff on equipment operation and safety.
v. Regulatory compliance knowledge to adhere to healthcare standards and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

i. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair medical equipment and devices.
ii. Perform preventive maintenance on medical equipment.
iii. Collaborate with healthcare teams to assess equipment needs.
iv. Maintain equipment records and inventory.
v. Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
vi. Provide training to hospital staff on equipment use and safety.
vii. Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
