His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta officially launched various health infrastructure at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Some of the projects the Head of State launched include: a 250 Male ward, water treatment plant, 64 slice CT- scan, Hostel block, Funeral Parlor, and the Microwave System.

“I am pleased that through collaboration with the National Government, the County Government of Kisii is making strides towards the provision of quality healthcare,” he said.

We all know how a medical emergency can shake a family’s livelihood. This is why I made a promise to guarantee all Kenyans access to not just affordable, but also to the very highest standard of healthcare through the UniversalHealthCoverage program.

The Head of State reaffirmed his Government commitment to strengthening health systems in all counties, in readiness for the national scale up of the universal Health cares (UHC)program.

“This is especially in areas of Health Infrastructure, Human Resources, Access to Essential Medicines, and Health Leadership and Governance” the President said.

His Excellency said that the two levels of Government have to work together in partnership to deliver quality health services to all Kenyans, adding that it is the only way we will strengthen our health systems and ensure that the UniversalHealthCoverage agenda is not just mere talk.

The President who was in company of his Deputy President William Ruto, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga,Chief Justice David Maraga, Cs Interior and Coordination of National Security Fred matiangi, Cs Health Cecily Kariuki among other leaders.

Cs Health Cecily Kariuki congratulated Governor James Ongwae for the good work he had done in providing quality healthcare services to the residents of Kisii.

“The work you have seen today would not have been done if the Governor did not genuinely commit to partnering with the National government,”she said.

Governor James ongwae lauded the president for working together with the former Prime Minister Hon Raila Odinga in coming out with the building bridges initiative.

“The whole country has finally found a formula for peaceful engagement on national issues and sustaining of national stability,” Governor ongwae said.
